Breaking through the darkness

Yal Ki is a serious, quiet spoken young man but his testimony of God’s deliverance resonates through the Dom church.

Yal Ki was a drug addict for many years. He grew up in the church but rebelled at a young age and spent many years living a life of sin and drugs.

Eventually he came back to live with his family. He never attended school but learned to read from the Dom literacy classes. To practice reading he used the Ephesians lesson books translated by the missionaries into the Dom language. Little by little God’s Word sank into Yal Ki’s heart and began to create a thirst for the Word.

Recently Yal Ki stood up in church and read from the book of Ephesians, declared his faith in Jesus Christ and gave thanks that he has been clean and sober for three years now.

“This, friends, is the power of God’s translated Word. This is why we are still here after 29 years,” wrote missionaries Jim and Judy Burdett. “Lord hasten the day when the Dom New Testament is finally printed.”

Yal Ki is a family man and his wife Kathy is part of the translation team and is helping check and recheck the Dom Scriptures for accuracy and clarity

Yal Ki’s deliverance from the dark world of drugs and sin is miraculous. He is a living testimony of God’s power.
