Cockroaches and mold begone

Missionaries and Higaunon believers will soon be testing MP3 players to help reinforce Bible lessons and share the New Testament.

Missionaries Lance and Laura Ostman have been using tape players for those who could not read.

"Down through the years we have been using hand-wind cassette tape players quite successfully," they wrote. "This does not replace the teachers but is a tremendous blessing … Using the players, [Higaunons] review the teaching they heard in the meetings."

But the cassette players aren't without problems. "When returned for repair, there is usually a colony of cockroaches living inside. Also, the cassette tapes grow mold on them and eventually need replacing."

This makes the MP3 players come as huge relief. The company that makes the hand-wound cassette players sent the Ostmans two MP3 players to test and give input on. They've already started recording the Higaunon New Testament.

"We'll put the New Testament and the evangelistic teaching lessons on these machines and send them out to two locations to see how they fare."

Please pray that these machines test out and prove to be a good help in the ministry among the Higaunons.
