NTM’s first Kodiak Quest is nearly ready for service!

“Almost ready to fly...”

That’s the assessment of the crews at NTM Aviation as they work to ready the first of NTM’s new Kodiak airplanes for its trans-Pacific flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in May. Then, based in the Asia-Pacific region, this state-of-the-art aircraft will serve missionaries and tribal peoples in an area where airplanes are critical links to the outside world.

“This has been a long time coming,” said Paul Wyton, director of NTM’s Stewardship Development Office. “The campaign to acquire a number of these planes was a few years ago — but now we’re seeing the first about to go to the field … It’s really exciting!”

There are a few details that need to be finished — and financial needs met to ensure that the long flight and deployment in the Asia-Pacific region can occur without a hitch. For example, the cost to ferry the plane to Kuala Lumpur, fees for local registration and insurance, alone, total nearly $80,000. With a margin to cover unexpected in-country fees, fuel charges, hangaring costs, etc., we’re anticipating a total cost of $100,000. Thankfully, funds already raised will cover about 80 percent of this cost. But that means an additional $20,000 must be raised to deliver the plane to its destination.

According to Wyton, “We’re praying that God would raise up partners right now who can help make this final push possible. He has already provided the majority of the funds needed in a miraculous way. But the entire Kodiak Project has seen miracle after miracle — from a class of third graders raising enough to buy a plane right to this moment when we’re ready to send our first into service. He never fails!”
