Putting together a new team

Last week missionary consultant Jonathan Willcock and his wife Rachel met with a team of missionaries planning to minister among the Nahuatl people in Mexico.

The team hopes to gain permission to build three simple homes in a Nahuatl village, begin building relationships and learn the culture and language of the people.

Jonathan is experienced in culture and language learning and his ministry involves helping tribal missionaries formulate a plan to reach their goal of culture and language proficiency.

The Willcocks discussed team strategy and ministry focus with the three families. The team will soon begin writing a strategy for reaching the Nahuatl with the Gospel. They will also need to decide who will focus on each role in their church planting ministry. There is a need for a Bible translator, while other team members will write and teach evangelistic Bible lessons and literacy as well as many other vital team roles.

Jonathan also helps establish church planting missionary teams. Earlier this month missionaries ministering among the Trique and Mizteco tribal people received encouragement and direction from Jonathan. He evaluated their culture and language progress and helped them devise a plan for continued language study.

Pray for Jonathan and Rachel as they help tribal church planting missionaries. Pray also for the missionaries working among the Trique and Mizteco tribal groups. Pray too that the team desiring to work among the Nahuatl people will receive permission from the people to move there.
