Radio broadcast bearing fruit

Missionaries Paul and Marina Briggs made a trip to several villages in Burkina Faso recently to check on the progress of Loron people who were listening to evangelistic Bible lessons broadcast on a local station in the Loron language.

"Since 2008 we have heard sporadic reports of small groups of Loron folks listening to the chronological Bible lessons," wrote Paul.

The first village they visited was somewhat disappointing. The village leader did not even want to talk to them and obviously the people were intimidated by him and so were reluctant to talk to the missionaries. A few young adults were brave enough to ask for more radios to listen to the lessons.

The second village was more encouraging. The people there not only wanted to hear more Bible teaching, they also wanted to learn to read and write. They are meeting together to arrange a time to begin classes.

When they arrived at the third village several people came to talk with them. "A lady, Miriam, told us that she had become a Christian after hearing the Gospel on the little radio we had given to her. She has been crossing the border into Ivory Coast to attend a little church there bringing her children with her. She said that it had been very difficult for her as she is the only Christian in the village," Paul wrote.

Pray for Paul and Marina as they find innovative ways to share the Gospel among the Loron people. Pray also that Miriam will grow in the Lord and become a vibrant witness to her village.
