The meat of the Word …
Missionary Lisa Kappeler and three Uriay men in Papua New Guinea recently made a trip to a nearby Bagwido village that wanted to help with the Uriay Scripture translation project.
“These three year-old [Bagwido] believers wanted to help with the Uriay translation project so off we went,” wrote Lisa. “It was such an incredible blessing to see these folks take care of the three Uriay men – so much so that I hardly saw the guys outside of the work hours. But they weren’t just housed and fed meat and fried sago, they were also fed and challenged spiritually. We worshipped the Lord together in the Bagwido language and the Papua New Guinea national language and all three men were challenged by the lives, testimonies and words of the Bagwido believers.”
Aendru, one of the Uriay believers, was so overwhelmed by the truths presented in the book of Romans that he was uncharacteristically quiet during the Bible translation check. When he returned to the village he proclaimed to the believers the sweet words from Romans.
He spoke with passion and conviction, challenging the others with the truths he had learned in those few days.
“Praise the Lord with me on the completion of another 1,245 verses ready for printing in the Uriay language,” wrote Lisa. “Praise Him for the way the Uriay men were fed physically and spiritually. Praise the Lord for the Bagwido church and the investment they’ve made into the Uriay ministry and translation.”
