Three lessons making impact

On Nov. 8 a small group of Brooke’s Point Palawanos in the Philippines heard Firm Foundation teaching for the first time. As they listened to the teaching from God’s Word, they began to recognize God’s Hand in everything around them.

Missionary Elise Long, who has lived among the Brooke’s Point Palawano’s for several years, is delighted to hear their first impressions of the teaching.

“It has been amazing” wrote Elise, “to hear things like, ‘You know, our ancestors' beliefs had bits missing and bits added because they didn't have God's Word written down. Now we know the truth.’”

Tostito, who helped prepare the Firm Foundation Bible lessons, said, “Even though I've only heard a small part of God's story, I know it's true. I’m breaking with my ancestors' beliefs. I'm throwing them away. I'm going to follow this for as long as I live. I love studying it so much that I would love to study it day and night with Dave, [the missionary who is  teaching Firm Foundations], without even sleeping. But he and I have other work to do so we can't.”

Elise asked Tostito, “How do you know it’s true?”

He replied, “There are signs everywhere that He is the only God: the things He made, the sun, the moon, the stars, all the different trees and types of fruit. It is clear that there is a God Who made them.”

It is incredible to hear these testimonies after just three teaching sessions. Though they have never been told that their stories were untrue or that they needed to give up their ancestral beliefs, the Word of God is working in their hearts.

Pray for the missionary team serving the Brooke's Point Palawano people. Pray that the hearts of the Palawanos will be softened and ready to accept the God of the Word.
