Southwestern Palawano People Group News

Sep 25, 2014 | Asia-Pacific, Bible translation, Bible translator, Mission News, Philippines, Rosie Cochran, Southwestern Palawano People,
Erot told his children that one day, a man would come with an important book.

This week, Nurasalyn and Arlyn are working through the translation of Mark with missionary Bill Davis to ensure that it is ready to be checked by an experienced Bible translator. “Bill reads them portions and they tell it back to show what they understood,” wrote Bill and his wife, Donna. “Then he asks questions. More and more specific questions. ... It can be tiring for the girls and Bill, but it's exciting to see how the translation communicates.” Pray that the check reveals any problems with the translation.
Arrangements to print the New Testament in the Southwestern Palawano language have begun.

Earlier this month, Bill and Donna Davis were able to check the translation of part of Romans and some other books, to ensure that they communicate clearly. They plan to finish the rest of Romans in May. That would mean that Romans, Galatians, 1 and 2 Timothy and 1 John will all be ready for a final check this summer. Thank the Lord for good progress. Pray that the rest of the translation work can be completed on schedule.

For the next week and a half, missionary Bill Davis and his Palawano co-workers will be checking how well the translation of several New Testament books is understood in the Palawano language. Please pray for energy and stamina for the team and that they can produce a clear and understandable translation.
