Ted and Sharon Wingo worked for almost 25 years in a remote village in the mountains of northern Mexico among the Western Tarahumara people.
To gain more insight into the issues facing the new, indigenous believers, Ted enrolled in the Doctorate of Ministry program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity Seminary, finishing the coursework and graduating while continuing with translation, Bible teaching and discipleship. Sharon helped with translation, taught Bible and developed and taught a Tarahumara literacy program.
In 2016 they returned stateside, saying goodbye to a literate church made up of indigenous believers.
Now living in South Carolina, Ted and Sharon have taken on a new challenge — encouraging others to reach out to the least-reached people groups of the world, those still waiting to hear the Good News in their own language!
Ted is from Greenville, SC, and Sharon is from Paxton, IL. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
