Beles, a Landuma man in Guinea, is now listening to evangelistic Bible lessons on an audio player.
He once told his neighbor, missionary Kirk Rogers, that it was wrong for Jesus to call God his Father. Beles claimed that implied that God physically fathered Jesus. Kirk explained the use of the term many times but Beles did not understand.
He has also rejected many key Bible doctrines that would lead to understanding the Gospel message. Beles has always refused to listen to the evangelistic Bible lessons, which lay out the biblical basis of God’s plan for man’s salvation.
But Beles has been interested in talking about spiritual things with Kirk.
Now he has agreed to listen to thelessons on an MP3 player. He listens to each lesson over and over again so that he can be sure he thoroughly understands. Praise God that when they discuss the lessons, Beles seems to understand the concepts very well. However, he has only listened to a few lessons thus far.
"Pray that Beles would continue to be motivated to listen to God’s Word," wrote Kirk. "Pray that he would continue to understand the message well. And pray that one day Beles would be able to call God,kas kami, my Father."
