School boat needs papers

The large boat that New Tribes Mission owns and operates to make life easier for missionaries and their school children in Brazil is out of commission.

Not mechanically, but legally.

A few months ago the boat that is known as "the launch" was on its way home from a shopping trip when it was stopped by authorities.

"As it turned out," wrote Joel and Angela Ketcham, "the paperwork was never done properly and it is now illegal for us to use it in town. So the mission is now in the process of trying to get it all legal."

The launch is sorely missed.

"It belongs to the school and is the way in which we buy our supplies for the month, get the students to and from town in order to travel, and occasionally it’s the transportation for a little fun -- like going on camping trips," the Ketchams wrote. "Not being able to use the launch has been a big problem for the school and the families living here."

Its unavailability is also more costly for the missionaries. Instead of making one trip for the larger group and splitting transportation costs, they must now go a few at a time in smaller boats.

The paperwork process has been slow. Please pray that this situation will be resolved soon.
