Wayumi Course

An Introduction to Cross-Cultural Church Planting

Gathering new information is a vital part of deciding on our life ministry.  Our Wayumi Course is set up to give students new information on missiology while exposing them to the biblical mandate for missions. It is the prayer of our hearts that through this program, more people will be exposed and then challenged into the world of missions.

The Wayumi Course introduces the biblical basis for reaching every kindred, tongue, and tribe with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus. Along with the biblical foundation for missions, this course presents the challenges of cross-cultural church planting, establishing the church, and seeing the church become truly indigenous, while also showing the various ministries necessary to accomplish the task.

In-Depth Missions Course

  • Bible — Does the Bible speak specifically about reaching each ethnic group with the Gospel?
  • Language — Learn that you can overcome this obstacle.
  • Culture — Delve into the challenge of cross-cultural ministry.
  • Animism — What do tribal people believe?
  • Evangelism — Sharing the Gospel where there is no previous biblical understanding.
  • Translation — Making God’s Word clear in a new language.
  • Relationships — Developing friendships before you can even speak the language.
  • Teamwork — It takes a team to reach isolated people groups.

What others are saying...

I’ve been bringing my students to Wayumi for years. I love the combination of informative and interactive activities that focus on the importance of church planting. My students always comment on how they could better see themselves in missions after their time here.

Dr. Ed Scheuerman
Coordinator, Intercultural Studies major
Lancaster Bible College

One of the greatest ideas for mission training to win unreached people groups and tribes to Christ is the Ethnos360 center in Jersey Shore, PA.  The experiences here that the students have are comparable to real situations on the mission field. The instructors are veterans of tribal living.  The simulated Yanomami village is as authentic as possible. I wish we could get every student at our university to come for a week.  They would never be the same.  If you want a life-changing experience, the Wayumi exposure is a must.

Dr Don Fanning
Former Chair of Global Studies
Liberty University
