A cycle of curse and death

Responding to illness is something the Mwinkas in Mozambique have yet to find peace in. A Mwinka woman, Fatima, is dying. Her health has deteriorated over the span of six months.

Fatima's husband, Abacar, has asked the strongest witchdoctor in the region to assess her condition.

His verdict? The sickness is due to a curse that a young man they know cast upon her.

"And so the cycle of curse and death continue," missionary Francois Hattingh wrote. "How dark and frightening is a life without Jesus."

The Hattinghs have hope that Fatima will come to know Jesus before she dies and that although she is suffering, they know peace and joy can be found amidst the pain through Christ.

Please pray for Fatima's health and that she learns to rely on God. Also pray for Abacar who looks to the witchdoctor and curses as solutions and reasons for illness and death.
