A new look at Christmas
The Uriay people of Papua New Guinea looked at Christmas with new eyes this year -- recognizing the babe in the manger as King of kings and Lord of lords.
The Gospel message was presented in September and Imi was one of the women who placed her faith in Christ.
During a discipleship meeting recently she prayed, "Thank You God for being far above all things. Thank You that everything is beneath You. You created the sky, ground and all other things. I believe You and so I am in Your hands. Whatever trouble comes up, I put it into Your hands. I’m not afraid because You have all the power and You are above everything." Imi knows that God is the Almighty Creator of all things and she knows that she belongs to Him.
Missionaries Elias and Jose Struik and Lisa Kappeler are teaching through the Bible chronologically again but this time through the eyes of a believer. The Uriays are beginning to understand the assurance of their salvation and God is opening their eyes to the wonders of their relationship with Him.
The missionaries are delighted that the Uriays now pray regularly at the meetings. Some of the ladies are not as bold as Imi and speak so quietly it is hard to understand what they are saying, but their intentions are good and they are praising God for all He has done for them.
Pray for the missionaries as they seek to shepherd and strengthen these new believers. Pray too that the Uriays will continue to understand the depth of their relationship with the Savior.
