A successful visit
NTM missionaries are evaluating whether to begin translation among the Guarani Nandeva people.
A group of NTM missionaries, including Bryson White, recently visited several Guarani Nandeva communities. Francisco, a Guarani Nandeva believer, was their guide.
“It was good to see the need up close and the urgency it entails,” Bryson wrote. “Without God’s Word, people are hopelessly lost.”
One of the most important questions is whether the Guarani Nandeva language is being lost. If the language is well on its way to being lost, the people are most likely better reached by missionaries working in Spanish or Guarani, the two principle languages of the country.
But if it is being maintained, missionaries would learn the culture and language, and help preserve both by developing a written form of the language in the process of translating the Scriptures among the Guarani Nandeva people.
Please pray for wisdom for the NTM’s leaders and the missionaries who are evaluating the information gathered, discussing options and seeking God’s will about ministry among the Guarani Nandeva people.
