Akolets excited in new faith

Akolet believers who earlier this month heard the final evangelistic Bible lesson about the death, burial and resurrection of Christ celebrated their first “real” Easter together.

“The believers are very excited in their new faith and are eagerly sharing it with others who haven’t yet believed,” wrote missionaries Adam and Julie Martin.

The believers have been meeting informally almost every night, singing praise songs and reviewing Bible lessons they were taught and encouraging one another. One of the believers, Toni, has written some of the songs the people are learning.

“Not everything has gone smoothly,” the Martins wrote. Rumors have been circulating among the unbelievers that the believers have been slandering people.

According to the Martins, while the believers have shared their faith with others some of their words have been misconstrued and have made some people angry.

Last week the believers began hearing a new set of Bible lessons. The missionary team will meet with them four times a week to begin grounding these new believers in their walk with Christ.

Please pray that the believers will continue to enthusiastically share their faith with others. Pray too that those who attended the initial teaching but have not yet fully understood the Gospel, that their understanding will be opened.
