Asking God for healing

Gwandambi is the son of Rison, a Simbari Bible teacher. And he has been very ill.
It has been suspected for some time that he has an infection in a joint or a bone in his leg. The dangerous potential of this infection made it crucial for Gwandambi to get to the hospital in town where intravenous antibiotics could be administered.
Missionary Shari Ogg, in the meantime, treated him with oral antibiotics. Then Shari and her husband, David, prayed for Gwandambi’s healing and for weather patterns that would make flying him to town possible.
For many days a bad weather system in the area kept their little bush airstrip covered in fog and clouds. Two different planes attempted to land and pick up little Gwandambi and his father to fly them into town. But each time the clouds closed in over the airstrip just 15 minutes before the plane arrived causing it to turn around and return to town without being able to land.
David says that extra fog and clouds are fairly typical for this time of year, but this has been a season of even more than usual fog.
David and Shari comforted Gwandambi’s family, reminding them that they know the God Who is in control of all things.
“And eventually the fog did clear enough to get him into town and into the hospital,” David shares. “Since being admitted, the swelling in his leg has gone down, but his hemoglobin is quite low.”
Too low, David says, for the doctors to perform the needed surgery until the numbers improve.
Rison, Gwandambi’s dad, stays by his bedside day and night to care for him. Rison remarked to David, “I know these earthly hardships are just small in comparison to the wonderful fact that Christ has rescued us from the punishment we deserved.”
David and Shari have visited Gwandambi in the hospital several times and have left Bible picture drawings for him to color as he lays in bed. “Gwandambi wanted to color the crucifixion picture first because he says it reminds him that Jesus has forgiven his sin,” David writes.
Please pray especially for Gwandambi and his family as they go through this challenging time. Pray that God will give grace to them and to the Oggs to trust His timing and wisdom. Pray that He will see fit to heal this little boy and to make his healing and his life a great testimony to His power and grace to the Simbari people.
