Banwaon village hears Bible teaching

A Banwaon village in the Philippines that resisted the Gospel for many years is now hearing God’s Word being taught by a Banwaon Bible teacher.

Amay Similya and his wife, Inay Similya, were sent as missionaries to this village last year. The believers helped them build a house in their new home about eight hours hike away and cleared land and planted rice for the family. When harvest time came the believers returned to help with the harvest.

Amay Similya returns to his home church on occasion to report about his ministry. The church has faithfully prayed for this village for many years and backed up their prayers with action.

In 2006 a cholera epidemic killed many in this village. The church gave away all of their rice harvest that year to care for the sick and dying who could not harvest their own rice. When money was supplied to the giving church to buy rice for themselves, they also gave half of that rice away.

Though Amay Similya and Inay Similya experience times of loneliness and discouragement away from their extended family and fellow believers, they faithfully minister to this village that continues to worship spirits.

Please pray for the couple as they endure ministry in a village where they have very little fellowship with other believers. Pray too that those who are hearing God’s Word will soon join them in worshipping Christ.
