'Believers must go and tell them'
Abdulay, a Landuma man in Guinea, says he used to follow his parents’ religion, but now he gives the following testimony.
We knew nothing else, but God helped me a lot. I know that He loves me, and because He loves me He sent missionaries to come and tell us this message. If they hadn’t come we couldn’t have known anything that God did for us. We would have been the way we were until we died.
But the missionaries came, and God worked in our hearts so that we would listen, until we heard what they wanted us to hear. We came to understand that we can’t do anything to save ourselves. He must help us.
That’s why missionaries should boldly go out and preach the Word of God. They shouldn’t be afraid. If they are afraid to come and teach those who haven’t heard, those people will die in their sins. … They must hear the Word of God to understand these things. So whoever is able to come out and teach the Word of God, he should do it. That’s what Jesus commanded his apostles. He said, "Go to the whole world."
But there is one thing, He said, "You must take up your cross and carry it." I think that bothers a lot of people, to take up their cross and carry it. But we need to persevere. That’s what Jesus said.
If some say those who haven’t heard God’s Word are happy and they should be left alone, I don’t believe that is true. Believers must go and help them. They must go and tell them the message of the Savior. If they don’t go the people will die in their sins, because we are all children of Adam, the first sinner.
The missionaries didn’t force me to accept the message of God. Their testimony has helped me a lot. I never saw that they do fornication. I never saw that they lie. I saw that lying has no good value. When you abandon lying you must believe the truth. Believing the truth is what helps us, so that we don’t believe lies.
The custom of our people is to believe lies. But it is difficult to change our customs. When you commit fornication or steal, you have to lie. So the testimony of the missionaries helped me to listen to the Word of God, to believe, and to change my ways.
