Believers to meet separately

The small Tagbanwa church in the Philippines is facing growing pains.

The Tagbanwa culture is works-oriented and going to church on Sunday mornings is seen as gaining merit and pleasing God even for those who have not trusted Christ.

Missionaries Ray and Chris Pollock are shepherding and teaching the young believers and have become somewhat frustrated because many unbelievers attend the meeting. Ray is concerned that they might listen to the teaching meant to strengthen believers in their walk and apply those verses to themselves.

After consulting with experienced church-planting missionaries the team has decided to meet separately with the believers to fellowship and worship the Lord.

They intend to meet with each person currently coming to the meetings and invite those with a clear understanding and testimony of salvation by faith to meet together. Those who do not clearly understand the Gospel will be invited to participate in a class presenting foundational Bible lessons.

The missionaries hope to disciple Tagbanwa believers to assume their responsibility to reach others with the Gospel. Ray will begin equipping them to teach and disciple others.

Pray that the Tagbanwa church will reach out to their friends and neighbors with the Gospel message. Pray also for Ray and Chris as they shepherd and disciple the believers.
