Bible teacher critically wounded

A Bena Bena Bible teacher in Papua New Guinea underwent four hours of surgery Saturday after receiving a serious knife wound.

There has been much speculation about what happened, but it appears that Heti was knifed by his eldest, adopted son, during a family argument.

Heti, who has helped missionary Rich Foster translate Scripture and Bible lessons, was wounded just below the heart. The blade of the small machete entered Heti’s chest, pierced a lung and came out his back.

Missionaries consider it a miracle that Heti even made it to the hospital since he lost a large amount of blood.

Heti became a believer in Christ in 2006. His wife, Janet, is also a believer and was considering baptism. The son involved in the incident is not a believer.

Please pray for Heti’s recovery. At last report, his left lung is still not functioning. Pray too that God will be glorified in this mostly unsaved Bena Bena community by more people placing their faith in Christ.
