Bible teacher's relatives want to hear

Returning from a translation check with his Manobo co-workers in the Philippine lowlands last week, Piduy decided to stop at a village where some of his relatives lived.

They told Piduy that they want to be taught God's Word. They said when missionaries first started teaching nearly 25 years ago, Piduy's grandfather, who was a shaman, twice put out a fleece to determine whether or not he and his followers should listen to the teaching.

The grandfather said that if while hunting the next day he got a male wild pig that it would be a positive sign that they should listen. The next day he got a male wild pig.

So he said that if the next day he got a female wild pig that would be real confirmation they should listen. The next day he got a female wild pig.

The Manobos who listened as result of those fleeces are the core believers' group now.

Piduy's relatives remembered those fleeces and now they too want to hear God's Word.

Piduy told them that they will have to wait while the Bible teachers discuss who is available to teach and when they can start.

Mahan, one of the Manobo Bible teachers, and his family have been planning to move to the lowlands soon to start a new outreach in another village. It might work out for him to teach in both villages.

Please pray for the Bible teachers as they work out the details and that these outreaches would start soon and show much fruit.
