Bible teachers trained

Missionaries Gene and Carol Trudeau organized a seminar for Manobo Bible teachers in the Philippines last month, and 44 attended.

They were delighted with the response. Ten of those who attended were Bible teacher trainees. Piduy, the Trudeaus' translation co-worker and an experienced Bible teacher, has been helping train several men to begin evangelistic outreaches.

During the seminar some of the Bible teachers preached from God's Word about praise and thankfulness. The men were encouraged by the sermons and one teacher commented that, "Outreaches are not just a quick trip to a village to preach a time or two, but involve a commitment of years to see people saved and taught, and men raised up from among them to lead and teach them."

On the last day of the seminar the group partook of the Lord's Supper. Gene shared with them that 23 years ago when he and Carol moved into the village and began to learn the culture and language they attended a sacrifice to learn more about the culture. The Manobos were dancing and calling on the spirits and drinking the blood of the sacrificed animals. Some of the Bible teachers were young boys at that time and are now saved, teaching God's Word and sharing communion with the missionaries and other believers.

"We all cried and praised God for the wondrous things he has done among the Manobo," wrote Gene.
Praise God with us for the 44 who attended the seminar.

Pray that these men will reach out to others and that many Manobos will trust Christ through their teaching.
