Bread of life

A Mwinika woman walked along the side of the road, calling out that she was selling bread.

Missionary Phil Henderson and the Mwinika men who were helping him translate God’s Word could hear her sales pitch loud and clear from where they were checking John chapter 6 to ensure that it was clear.

As they worked, someone yelled to the bread seller to ask if the bread was good. "The bread is fresh," she shouted back. "The bread is good."

The shouting continued to distract them and slow their work, and eventually they stalled at verse 35, where Jesus says, "I am the bread of life."

While the shouting continued outside, one of the Mwinika men looked around at Phil and his other co-workers and said, "Come on, let’s get back to work. She is just selling bread that doesn’t last."

Early this month, evangelistic Bible teaching started among the Mwinika people. Pray that many Mwinikas choose to partake of the Bread of Life.A woman selling bread was by no means loafing, and that disrupted work on Bible translation.
