Celebrations help community

When Jonas, a Gavião man, received his Bachelor’s degree from Federal University, all of his relatives gathered together to throw a big party for him. Jonas was the first Gavião to complete his bachelors degree and when he returned there was a great celebration.

“It was all fun and colorful as many painted up for this historic event.  We were happy to be able to help out in various ways, and Jonas was thrilled with the results of the day,” wrote missionary Arnie Kitchener.

The Gavião believers are joining together to celebrate different events fostering a sense of community. Recently seven young students finished their literacy classes and once again there was a celebration with food and gifts. The parents wanted their children to realize the importance of being able to read and write.

Pray that these Gavião children will use their abilities to read God’s Word. Pray that Jonas will use his education to further God’s Kingdom. Pray too for Croc, who is a church leader, and the others who remain faithful in the Gavião church.
