Changed bodies and cow-fat pieces

Last Saturday missionary Brooks Buser heard men discussing something important as he walked into an Yembiyembi believers' meeting in Papua New Guinea.

As he listened, he wasn't sure what they meant.

"When we skin-change like the snake it will be so nice," one man said.

One of Brooks' Yembiyembi friends explained, "We are talking about how it will be at Jesus' ground. When we die our bodies from this ground will shed like a snake, and we will get new ones, ones that don't feel burn, don't feel stings, and don't split when knives are put to them. We will be new. We will be joined back to God like that branch brought back in, just like we were supposed to be."

Some of the men started getting excited and one of the young boys said, "When I get to heaven I will eat the best food there is, rice, tinned fish and cow-fat pieces. And I will have the cold water chunks (ice) all day long, but only if I have good teeth then."

Most of the men nearly fell off their benches laughing.

For the Yembiyembi believers, the reality of Heaven is an important reminder as they deal with the opposition of man on earth.

Pray for the Yembiyembi church as they deal with many in their tribe who are against the believers, or "crossers," as they call them. Pray also for the missionaries as they teach through the book of Romans and encourage the believers.
