Changing life-long perspectives

One week into their studies at the Interface program in Papua New Guinea, 14 students are immersed in an eye-opening experience.

The group is learning what tribal church planting is all about in an up-close and personal way.

The Interface staff hopes that the four-week program will also be a life-changing experience for the group, as it has been for previous students. After students finished the course in August some of them shared what it meant to them.

"Before coming to Interface I thought I knew what tribal evangelism was all about. I knew people were dying without ever hearing the Gospel and there was a degree of urgency to reach the lost tribal people. But it wasn’t until after I was here that I started realizing how important it is for people to go into the world and reach tribal people for Christ."

"I used to think missions was a remote, inaccessible thing that I would not have the chance to truly understand, but now I do understand a lot about how it works, what it would be like to be a missionary, and how God can use me on the field."

"Tribal missions honestly scared me. The thought wasn’t even on my radar, and I genuinely had no idea all the work and support needed for it to be effective or even for the missionaries to make it in the bush. I was all together naïve and ignorant about it and the need. I’ve learned so much and have been so truly blessed by Interface. My perspective on missions is permanently altered."

The Interface staff wants "to make this the best experience possible for our students and we could all use a good boost of energy during a time when we don’t get too many chances to come up for air," wrote Julie Koop.

Pray that God will energize the staff and "please pray for strength for each of the students as they adjust to a new time zone, new food, new culture, and a heavy class schedule. It can all be a bit overwhelming," Julie wrote. "Please also pray for moldable hearts as God works in their lives during this time."
