Chanter's answer not magical
Realizing that her marriage was in trouble, a Guanano woman in Brazil recently called upon a "chanter" to straighten it out.
"It seems that the Guananos have chanters for everything," wrote missionaries Lindy and Carol Drake. "If you have a drinking problem or if your love life is messed up … you can hire a chanter."
The Guananos believe that a chanters "magical incantations" can tip the scales in their favor.
After engaging in yelling matches with her husband over financial stress, Sandra hired a chanter. But the chanter’s asking price -- one month’s supply of food -- created even more stress.
The hungry husband wanted to know where all the food had gone and was very angry when he found out.
Two Guanano Bible teachers, Mario and Getulio, have been teaching that life’s problems can’t be fixed by a chanter, but are the result of a broken relationship with the living God. Please pray that Mario and Getulio’s message will find its way into Guanano hearts.
