Church growth motivates missionaries

When missionaries Becky Preheim and Keri Pacheco returned to their ministry among the Mengen people in Papua New Guinea, they were delighted to find a strong growing church.

“It is absolutely incredible to see the growth in the lives of the believers and to see the ones who have become saved in the last year,” wrote Becky. “It has been such a joy to see many teenagers and young adults coming faithfully to the Bible teaching and starting to take a stand for Christ.”

Bible classes will begin in three different parts of the village reviewing the foundational lessons on Creation, sin, Satan, etc. There are 70 lessons to be taught bi-weekly. During these teaching sessions the missionaries will be training some of the Mengen men as Bible teachers.

On Sundays the believers are listening to lessons from the book of Romans and the changed lives show their attention to the Scriptures.

“It is a great motivation to keep working hard at Bible translation and to get God’s Word into the hands of the believers,” Becky wrote.

Becky hopes to have the book of Acts ready for printing by next year and the book of Romans is not far behind.

“I would appreciate your prayers, that the Lord would give me wisdom and clarity of thought as I endeavor to make His Word clear in the Mengen language,” she continued.

Pray also for the men who will be training as Bible teachers. Pray that through them God’s Word will be spread among the Mengens.
