Couple gets taste of ministry
Missionaries Elijah and Moira Hall are studying culture and language in Paraguay in preparation for beginning a church planting ministry.
Recently they were able to travel to western Paraguay and visit three different tribal works in various stages of ministry.
“Most of the tribal people in this region are subsistence farmers; but heat and sandstorms, along with the lack of water, make this area difficult to live and work in,” wrote Elijah. “There are two tribes in this region and possibly more that are still without believers.”
A visit to an Ayoré church service touched their hearts and demonstrated clearly God’s transforming power.
“One of the elders went to the front, adjusted the microphone and began a sing-song, chanting ballad, shaking his maraca occasionally to no apparent rhythm. The missionary told us that this was the traditional song form of the Ayorés, except this song was about the biblical account of the Flood,” Elijah wrote.
The service was entirely in the Ayoré language so Elijah and Moira did not understand anything; however they were touched by hearing God’s Word in the heart language of the Ayorés.
“We were so blessed to praise the Lord that morning with the little local body,” Elijah
Please pray for Elijah and Moira as they continue to study culture and language in Paraguay. Pray also for wisdom as they prepare for the next step of ministry.
