Difficult conditions, tough concepts

It wasn’t your average church service. Some men loudly discussed the lesson among themselves, dogs howled, Lap cried while Aendru slept soundly. Then a baby decided to relieve himself right in the middle of the crowd.

Through all the action, the people listened intently as missionary Elias Struik taught the Uriay people of Papua New Guinea about Jesus. God’s Spirit is working in the hearts of the Uriays.

"It blows me away," wrote José Struik, Elias’ wife, "to see how major concepts like the virgin birth, the deity of Christ, Jesus being without sin, etc., are accepted so readily as we moved through the initial chapter of Luke."

Missionary Lisa Kappeler taught evangelistic Bible lessons to several ladies who evidenced a great hunger for the truth.

One of them, Kayne, commented, "So Mary and all those people from the Old Testament that believed God and His promise of the marked Man that would help people not receive punishment for their sin, did eventually die as well!"

Imi then spoke up, "This is the most important talk. I want everybody in our village to hear and believe. I am so concerned about those not attending."

Pray for the Uriay people as they learn more about the marked Man (Jesus) who came to reconcile men to God. They already understand that there is a connection between the Passover Lamb and our Lord Jesus but do not yet understand that Jesus came to die for them personally.
