Dom Bible teachers have opportunities
Kapia, a Dom Bible teacher in Papua New Guinea, has been teaching evangelistic Bible lessons to 11 people.
The students were eager to hear the teaching from Creation to the life of Christ. Kapia just finished teaching on the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and will soon talk to each student individually. In two weeks those who have trusted Christ as their Savior will be baptized.
Kapia wrote to missionary Jim Burdett who is on home assignment in the USA, "We have been in the 1 Corinthians lessons and we finished that last week. We who are the stronger Christians are having weekly Friday night Bible study in 1 Timothy and Titus lessons in order to become stronger as servants in our church."
Gena, another Dom Bible teacher, has been asked to teach evangelistic Bible lessons in the local school. He has also been asked to teach the children to read and write in the Dom language.
"We have wanted for years to teach literacy in the local schools so this is a great answer to prayer," Jim wrote. "He [Gena] also continues to teach in church. He is also working on translating a literacy story book I left for him to work on in his spare time. Please pray for him and Kapia that they would be faithful to God's word in their teaching and in their lives and that more men would come forward to help."
Pray also for Jim and Judy Burdett as they prepare to return to the Dom tribe. Jim is working on translating the book of Revelation into the Dom language. Then he will have only Matthew and Philemon to put in draft form. When he returns to Papua New Guinea he and Gena will work together to make sure that the translation is clear and understandable.
