Faith comes by hearing

This month, Simon Challinor hopes to get to some Naso villages he has been unable to visit for a while, and leave God’s Word with them.

But how do you do that when many cannot read, or struggle with reading?

Simon plans to distribute 25 Proclaimer digital audio players. Players like these, designed for remote places and people, are one way technology is helping expand the reach of the Gospel. Proclaimers come from an organization called Faith Comes By Hearing.

The Scriptures are loaded onto a microchip in each Proclaimer, and played back with the help of a battery that lasts 15 hours. The battery can be recharged with a built-in hand-cranked generator or a built-in solar panel, or, when available, by an electrical outlet.

The high-quality digital audio can be used by individuals or small groups, and Simon plans to distribute them to families who want to use them. But they can also be loud enough for 300 people to hear.

Simon also continues to prepare Bible lesson materials for Naso believers to read and study, or to use in teaching others.

Pray that the church among the Naso people of Panama feeds on God’s Word and grows strong in Christ.
