Fire provides opportunity
What is currently a hardship for a Brooke's Point Palawano family in the Philippines, could potentially be an opportunity for missionaries George and Ginny Olson to model Christ's love.
Earlier this month, Jambi's house burned down and little could be salvaged from their home.
Although the family has received aid, the loss has signified something greater for them. Jambi and his step-son face conflict and now family members are divided and hard feelings aren't budging.
The fire came at one of the most inconvenient times for the Palawanos. During this time of year, weeding is essential so their gardens will be healthy and bring in a good harvest.
Jambi is busy rebuilding his house, and can no longer help in the weeding process. His step-son has refused to help the family in his place.
"[He] would not go up and help his mother and step-father, which has made the whole village mad at him," George wrote.
The Olsons are currently learning the culture and language of the Brooke's Point Palawanos. Although they've been in the village for a year, they've only had four months of culture and language study due to various hardships and interruptions. Please Pray that their progress will continue so they can eventually encourage the Palawanos through God's Word.
