Five weeks from now

Five weeks.

That’s how far the missionary team to the Siar people is from a major milestone, after years of preparation – training, learning culture and language, developing an alphabet, teaching literacy, and translating Scriptures and lessons.

In five weeks, they expect to begin sharing God’s Word with the Siar people, starting with Creation and moving through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. More than 40 lessons are ready. The translation of Scripture portions needed for the teaching have been checked. A fourth group of Siars has learned to read and write.

“All of this is good, but our efforts and progress only pale when placed under the light of the great God we serve,” wrote Lane Sanford.

“As we work on these lessons that speak of the Creator God and His desire for mankind, we are amazed at His power and unmerited favor toward them. We marvel at His holiness and relish in His promised One to buy us back. We consider His handiwork as He made all things and yet still desires us and our fellowship.

“We trust that … the Siars too will have their eyes opened to who their God is. He is great for sure; after all, He saw fit to allow this group of misfits to work with Him to reach these people for His name's sake. Pretty great indeed.”
