Gili recognizes Jesus

This week, Gili put it all together.

Gili has been on pins and needles since the lessons in Genesis that promised a Rescuer would someday lift the curse that all men are under because of Adam’s sin.

While working with missionary Adam Martin to prepare evangelistic Bible lessons for the Akolet people of Papua New Guinea, Gili began asking questions and connecting the dots.

Adam called his wife, Julie, into his office and told Gili, "Tell her what you just told me."

Gili responded, "Adam kept talking about Jesus in this lesson and I had all these questions and so I stopped him and asked him something. I asked him ’So the sin that the Rescuer is going to deal with, what sin is that? Adam and Eve’s sin that all humans have inherited or my own sin?’"

"He told me that it was all sin. Then I asked him, ’So what do I do to have this Rescuer pay the price for my sin?’ And he explained it all to me. So now I know that God sent Jesus as the Rescuer so that we don’t have to live under Satan and the curse of sin and death. Jesus died.

"So now my head is following (believing) Him and is hanging on (trusting) Him. That’s all. Just Jesus."

"We are thrilled beyond belief," wrote Julie, "and are having a hard time concentrating on anything else at the moment. By the grace of God, Gili is now our brother in Christ. The adventure has just begun for him.

"We pray that in God’s time and way, many of his fellow Akolet people will also respond like that when they hear the truth."

Please join Adam and Julie in their prayer for the Akolet people.
