God draws believers back
Gaviao believers in Brazil celebrated the New Year by gathering to sing praises and testify of God’s faithfulness to them. The service lasted until 2 a.m. and God touched the hearts of some Christians who had drifted away from the Lord.
One man, Wawri, realized that he had been mistreating his wife and brother. He returned to the Lord and is now attending services with his wife and enjoying fellowship once again.
Rop asked the church body to forgive him for his lifestyle of drinking and problems resulting from that. His countenance now shows the peace he received when he submitted to the Lord and received forgiveness. His father and uncles continue to drink to excess so alcohol remains a temptation.
"Please pray for Rop, as he desires to follow the Lord wholeheartedly." wrote missionary Arnie Kitchner.
Pu trusted Christ a year ago but rarely came to the believers’ meetings. With three young children and little encouragement from her family it was difficult for her to attend. Recently however God touched her heart and gave her the courage to attend the meetings faithfully. She reads Scriptures for the meetings and is eager to learn.
The Gaviao church has begun prayer services on Monday and Friday. "The numbers vary," Arnie wrote, "but the times of praying together are precious. Another highlight is having the Lord’s Supper together on a regular basis."
Please pray that the Gaviao believers will continue to grow in the Lord and that more will respond to the Gospel message.
