'God really knows how to give'

Last week a Yanomami believer in Brazil had a wonderful experience of God providing food for his family.

When Sergio told missionary Mike Hartman that he was going hunting, Mike reminded him who the Provider is.

"God is the one who gives to us and He really knows how to give," Mike said. "He's the only one that can provide game for you to eat. If you go out without God helping you, you could go all day and not get anything."

The next evening, Sergio brought Mike some tapir meat and told the missionary about his hunt. He had been out hunting and only had three shells for his gun. He came upon a herd of wild boars and was able to shoot two. As he was carrying the two boars home in the late afternoon, a fantastic success for any hunter, he spotted a tapir.

He shot and wounded the tapir but it ran away. He followed it for a while but then decided to take the pigs home and get another shell for his gun. Going back after the tapir he was able to track it down and shoot it again.

When Sergio arrived at Mike's door, the missionary said, "Wow, you got a lot of meat!"

Then Sergio told Mike that he had also gotten the two boars.

Mike asked Sergio if he remembered what was said the day before.

"Yes, I thought about it a lot," Sergio said. "God really knows how to give. He really gave me a lot!"

The next morning the two men talked again.

"It is really something," Mike told Sergio. "Most people don't get that much game in one day. God really knows how to provide when you ask."

Please pray that the Yanomami believers will be encouraged and strengthened in the faith as they see how God provides. Pray too for Sergio. He is a leader in the community but has not yet taken any leadership in the church.
