'God's Word must sink down deep'

For the past four months Siawi Bible teachers in Papua New Guinea have been traveling to two villages of a neighboring language group to teach evangelistic Bible lessons.

The people have been listening and appear to understand the truth but opposition has arisen to the teaching. In one village, leaders are pressuring the teachers to finish the lessons in one week.

One of the teachers, Malakai, said, "We told them we wouldn’t do that. We’ve sat under their talk for everything but we can’t do that. That is not enough time."

"God’s Word must sink down deep into the holes of the heart. There it must sit awhile and do the work of change. Then after God’s Word has set in man’s heart and the Spirit has been convicting him, he can truly believe in Christ with just one thinking.

"If we just throw out God’s Word and the life of Christ quickly, like in one week, the talk won’t reach down deep into their hearts. They will not be changed from the inside out. They will just say … on the outside, they believe. But they won’t truly understand and believe.

"Nope, we can’t hurry through the true meat of the talk. We can’t jump forward to the work of the Saving One without clearly teaching all that He has done. We just can’t."

Please keep praying for Malakai and his fellow teachers -- Beiyali, Yaniwi and Woula as they teach in this village. Pray also for Ekebei, Waowiao, Robert and Yakob as they teach in another village.
