God's Word taking shape
The Siar people of Papua New Guinea are excited as they hear God’s Word in their own language.
"They are starting to ask the right questions as they hear the new Siar Bible taking shape," wrote missionary Lane Sanford.
Lane read to them from the first three chapters of Genesis that he had translated. Many are trying to comprehend the wonder of God speaking the world into being. They have been very confused about God’s role in the creation of the world and the fall of Adam because of their cultural beliefs.
While Lane translates and prepares lessons he is also preparing the Siar people to hear the Gospel message. Ogen, a village leader, sits beside him and learns to type on a computer.
"His eyes are bad and he can hardly see the screen to read it, but he sits there faithfully for hours trying to learn how to type so he can help us with lessons, literacy stories and anything else we need to produce," Lane wrote.
When the Sanfords’ co-workers, Chris and Erin Lujan, return to the village from home assignment the team will begin preparing to have the Bible lessons checked by a consultant. This will bring them one step closer to begin teaching evangelistic Bible lessons.
Pray for the Sanfords and Lujans and their partners Jon and Melissa Jackson as they prepare to teach evangelistic Bible lessons. Pray also that the hearts of the Siar people will be softened and ready to hear the Gospel message.
