God took him

Ezekiel and Safira's baby boy died Monday night in Brazil and the parents returned home by plane. They were met by a group of wailing Yanomamis.

Last Thursday the doctors diagnosed a probable case of meningitis and began appropriate treatment. However, God chose to take the little boy and the heartbroken parents returned home with him for his funeral.

Ezekiel and Safira were accompanied to the village roundhouse by missionaries and Yanomamis. Missionary Brenda Poulson reported, "Marta and I walked with all of them to the roundhouse right beside Ezekiel and his mom. Safira said to me while we hugged and cried together, grieving the loss of her little son, 'God took him.'"

A Yanomami funeral is complicated with many rituals, and the hopelessness of those who have not trusted Christ is agonizing. The wailing and screaming continued as family members arrived from remote villages. Please pray that the missionaries and the Yanomami believers will be able to point those without hope or comfort to Jesus, the source of all hope.

Pray that Ezekiel and Safira will be strong in the Lord and will continue to claim His promises of comfort. Pray too that the missionaries will be able to minister to the many Yanomamis who have not trusted Christ and that the death of a toddler will create thirsting hearts wanting to know about the God of all comfort.
