Going, learning and growing in Africa

Missionaries Kris and Ruth Altmiller are ready for the next step in preparing to serve the Lord in Guinea.

They have been studying culture and language in Guinea. "We are very pleased with rewarding interactions with our friends," wrote Kris.

Kris and Ruth have learned much about the things Africans value, and put that knowledge into action as they said farewells to friends they made during their time in the capital city.

"Just two months ago we felt desperately ill-equipped in terms of cultural insight." Kris wrote. "But now, thanks to some timely mentoring, it’s comforting to know we have strong, well maintained friendships."

Soon the Altmillers will move to a town some distance from the capital and continue their studies. A small church there has agreed to help Kris and Ruth learn the culture and language. They have found a house next to the church building and a school where their children will attend.

"It will be such a blessing to be that close to other believers," Kris wrote. "Praise the Lord for a church body that is excited to help us become good ministers to the African culture."
