Guanano believers reach out
Guanano Bible teachers in Brazil are learning how to teach evangelistic Bible lessons.
Mario teaches on Sundays while his brother, Getulio, and his sister, Kiri, teach on Wednesdays.
The teachers still need plenty of support and help from missionary Barry Spor. Barry works with Mario and Getulio each week to prepare them for teaching.
While the evangelistic Bible study is going on, missionary Lindy Drake is teaching the book of Revelation to the Guanano believers.
Recently, while teaching about the wedding feast in chapter 19, Lindy used an illustration from Genesis 24 -- about Abraham sending his servant to a far country to find a wife for Isaac -- to explain the concept of the bride of Christ to the Guananos who were having difficulty understanding it.
After hearing this story, Kiri was very encouraged. She is a single mother with two daughters. Without a husband to care for her, she has lived in fear regarding the future. She was happy to think that she could be a "Rebecca" and that God had chosen her to belong to Christ, her "husband" -- someone committed to her care and well being.
The illustration spoke to another believer about their evangelistic outreach.
"Just as Abraham's servant got to that city and asked God to show him who He wanted for Isaac's bride, we need to ask God to show us who it is in this town that he wants for Jesus' bride. He will answer that prayer just like He did for Abraham's servant," Helmar said.
Please pray that the Lord will continue to mature the Guanano believers and that through them the Gospel may have a wider impact among the people.
