Guinea unrest limited

The situation is calm but tense after a march and rally this week in Conakry, Guinea.

Monday’s demonstration was organized by those in opposition to the current government. Government security forces responded with force. The actual number of deaths and injuries is unknown, with reports varying.

However, the unrest has been limited to Conakry, and has not at this time spread to any of the more remote areas or other cities where most NTM missionaries in Guinea are ministering. And since Monday, Conakry has been calm.

All members of NTM in Conakry are safe and well. Many foreign embassies have encouraged their citizens to remain at home until the situation returns to normal, and NTM personnel are following that advice. In other places, ministries are continuing as normal.

Please pray for peace in Guinea, for the sake of Guinea’s people and so the Gospel can go forward unhindered.
