Hard habits to break

The missionary team ministering to the Yembiyembis in Papua New Guinea is currently teaching through the book of Ephesians.

As they studied Ephesians 3 recently, the Yembiyembi believers realized that is very difficult to break habits developed in 20 to 40 years of walking in the flesh. They are learning that walking with the Lord requires submitting to the Holy Spirit daily and a constant communication with the Heavenly Father.

One of the believers said, "It’s easy to say that we should follow God’s thinking but it’s hard to say no to the Adam part of us. I will tell you now, I am pondering this thought: It will take years for many of us to leave [the sin] we have been working out for so long. We need to just think about our families today and look towards God’s Spirit to lead us."

The missionary team, Tim and Courtney Shontere, Brooks and Nina Buser and Tony and Tara Sutton, are training 11 men to become elders in the church. They are asking for prayer that God will draw these men close to Him and prepare them for leadership. Pray also for the believers as they break away from past sins and seek to live their lives for Christ.
