Hard work sets stage for seminar
Gene and Carol Trudeau are organizing teaching materials for a Bible teachers' seminar for the Manobo tribe in the Philippines. Forty-three outreach teachers will be attending and the Trudeau family is hard at work making sure everything is prepared.
The Trudeaus, along with their main translation helper, Piduy, are recording 64 Bible lessons for the teachers.
"Carol is editing the recordings on her computer with an audio editor -- a very long job," missionary Judy Clarke wrote.
Judy and her husband, Trevor, are in the process of returning to the Philippines to help with Gene and Carol's work-load.
The recorded lessons will be transferred to a Saber, a hand-cranked MP3 player, for the teachers to use with illiterate believers and unbelievers in their villages.
"There are already two older men who don't know how to read and at their ages are not likely to learn," Judy wrote. "[They] are eagerly awaiting the completion of the recordings so they can use the Saber to teach unsaved relatives. "
During this time of the year the rainy season is at full force and these teachers are braving the weather to attend this seminar in order to be better equipped for teaching God's Word in their villages.
"These teachers [are] tribal people who believe and understand the Gospel and have been gifted by the Holy Spirit to teach," Judy wrote. "[They] have mostly all come in from different parts of the jungle and other areas."
A group of ten teachers hiked more than a day to arrive, wading through five rivers in flood-like conditions.
"This shows the level of commitment that these dear folk are prepared to go [through] to see God's Good News go out to people who have never before had opportunity to hear," Judy wrote.
Please pray that the Clarkes arrive safely and can help alleviate some of Gene and Carol's work-load. Also pray that more Sabers can be ordered so more recordings can be available to believers who can't read.
