How will you be remembered?
Many Mwinika people in Mozambique have agreed that they want to hear evangelistic Bible lessons as soon as possible.
Missionaries Francois and Nadia Hattingh and Phil and Elin Henderson have been translating Scripture and preparing Bible lessons.
Phil has been teaching lessons in the village where he lives but most of those in the Hattinghs’ village have not had the opportunity to attend.
The Hattinghs’ closest neighbor has been telling others they need to hear this message. Francois had wondered what Americo actually understood and what he believed. He is a very quiet man and never commented during the teaching or during the community meeting held to discuss whether to allow the teaching.
But during the second meeting,he realized he must convince the people of their need.
He stood up and said, “This coming of these friends will long be remembered by the generations to come. They will all look back and know that this was an important point in time for our Mwinika people. This is the time that God’s Word is coming to us in our own language. … Let our children’s children not say we did not grab this opportunity. Let them not say we had God’s Word and we did not listen to it and rejected it.”
Everyone at the meeting agreed. The community leaders said they would take responsibility to make sure that the literacy students attend classes and learn to read and write in the Mwinika language.
Pray that more Mwinikas will have the opportunity to hear evangelistic Bible lessons. Pray also that many will understand the Gospel message and will trust in Christ.
