'I am a sin-man'

Missionary Jeremiah Markley is praising God for His faithful work in tribal lives.

“The Lord is doing wonderful things on our part of the planet,” Jeremiah Markley shares. “Rejoice with us in the God Who changes lives!”

Jeremiah says that recently Firm Foundations chronological Bible teaching was completed in a distant tribal village. Some of their missionary friends shared the resulting transformations reflected in these quotes from some tribal people:

Simon: “I am very happy. I have heard God’s talk and I believe it.”

Jerry: “I am a sin-man. But all the sins I have done before and all the sins I will do in the future, Jesus died for them. He showed us the road to Heaven. He died for my sins.”

Michael: “I am going to Jesus. I am hanging onto Him alone.”

Maikalus:  “I used to follow another religious way for years, but now I have the gospel. Jesus died on the Cross for my sins and His blood ran down to the ground.”

Just 15 weeks ago, Jeremiah shares, these people were steeped in animistic beliefs. They were “in complete darkness and had no idea Who God is. Praise Him with us for bringing His message to these precious people and pouring out His grace.”

Jeremiah also shares a perspective on the Dinangat church where they minister. “Over the past few months, we’ve seen an increasing desire from the Dinangat Bible teachers-in-training to take on more responsibility and leadership in the church.” As they meet with missionaries and discuss various issues, these believers are going to God’s Word for themselves to find answers to questions and difficulties.

One of the greatest joys, Jeremiah shares, is seeing Dinangat believers follow the Lord in baptism. Several Sundays ago, 15 believers were baptized. And this week, Jeremiah and co-workers will be hiking to an outreach village to witness the baptizing of 10 more people.

“We are all very excited about it, except for maybe the part about the four-hour hike each way,” Jeremiah says.

Pray for Jeremiah and April Markley and their family as they live among and love the Dinangat people. Pray for God’s continued grace in the growth of believers, for unbelievers to be impacted and drawn to Christ, and for God to add many precious souls to the Dinangat church for His glory.
