Initiation ceremonies present trial
Pai Tavy Tera believers in Paraguay face pressure to participate in initiation ceremonies for the young boys in the tribe.
Many of the believers want nothing to do with the initiation ceremonies that honor false gods and where immorality and other undesirable things take place at the dances.
Yet some of the Pai believers have struggled with keeping their children away from the dancing and ceremonies. The young boys are taught how to dance and they learn many things about the Pais' religious belief system.
It is a huge social event and Pais come from several communities to participate. Last Saturday a lip piercing ceremony took place at the "holy house." Twenty boys had their bottom lip pierced as a sign that they are true Pais.
The training period, which goes on for four to five weeks, will end this weekend.
Please pray that God will strengthen the Pai believers and give them wisdom as they face pressure to participate in the religious ceremonies and dances.
Please pray too for the many Pai people who are caught up in their religious belief system and do not yet have a relationship with Christ.
