'Jesus is that one bridge'
Yembiyembis in Papua New Guinea recently finished a 36-week course of teaching from Genesis to the book of John.
Many who attended were confused concerning the Gospel message. Some wanted to hear the whole teaching again. Also sitting in on the teaching sessions were men learning how to teach the course.
"We are so thankful that seven men are trained in how to teach," wrote missionary Tim Shontere.
One of the teachers-in-training challenged the class, "Cain brought vegetables -- was any blood spilled with that offering? No. OK, following the Ten Commandments, praying, getting baptized, becoming a leader in a church, or being a good man will not make you clean in God’s eye. It’s not by our hard work that we become clean in God’s eye. Someone has to die for your sin.
It’s either you or someone else, because there is a wall between you and God. It’s your sin debt.
How do you fix this problem? It’s through the death of another that you can come to God.
Who will be your bridge back to God? You must believe that Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection offering is what pays for your sin debt. Jesus is that one bridge to cross over back to God."
Pray for the Yembiyembi believers to grow in the Lord. Pray also that the men who have been trained will use their skills to bring others to Christ.
